How it compares in Reptiles & Amphibians
Across the 49 rated reptiles & amphibians products we track, the typical score is 4.6 out of 5. This one sits at 4.7, which puts it in the upper quarter of the category rather than level with it. Where almost everything is rated well, the gap at the top is small in points and large in practice.
It carries 260 ratings against a category median of 629. That is a thin base by the standards of this category, so treat the score as provisional: a handful of extra reviews can still move it either way.
On price it sits in the middle third of a category running from £2.30 to £26.86, where the midpoint is about £9.49. That is the part of the range where most sensible buys sit, neither cutting corners nor paying for the name.

Key features, as the manufacturer lists them
Taken from the product listing via Amazon's product API. These are the seller's claims, not our test results.
- MADE IN THE UK: A nutritionally complete powdered diet for crested geckos and other fruit-eating gecko species. No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
- BLACK SOLDIER FLY LARVAE & BEE POLLEN: Contains 15% black soldier fly larvae powder alongside bee pollen and soya protein isolate — delivering a balanced amino acid profile that mirrors the protein sources crested geckos consume in the wild. Better nutrition than fruit-only formulas.
- HEALTHIER FOR CAPTIVE GECKOS: Captive geckos are far less active than wild ones and are at risk of fatty liver disease on high-fat diets. Blue River uses coconut MCTs as a clean, quickly metabolised energy source, keeping your gecko lean, active and healthy long-term.
- POSTBIOTICS FOR GUT HEALTH: Supports digestive health, nutrient absorption and healthy skin shedding without the instability of live probiotics.
